Welcome to Resource
The purpose of our Resource Program at Saint Agnes is to give students the support they need in order to be successful in their classroom work. Students come to the Resource Room for assistance after having been referred by their classroom teachers, and after parents have signed a permission slip.
Our program recognizes that students learn differently. A child may be basically an auditory learner. In other words, he or she will be learning the material by listening, but may have a difficulty reading the information in the text. When tests are given, the auditory learners are at a disadvantage. Students such as these can come to the Resource Room, where the tests can be read out loud, and they can have a better chance to show what they have learned.
Some students learn better in a small group--three or four. There are less distractions, and they have lots of turns to answer questions, so their self-confidence can grow. Other students need one-on-one help, so we can zero in on a particular aspect of learning just for that student. Success, in both small and big steps, is the best motivator!
As the Resource Teacher, I work very closely with the classroom teachers. The work I do supports their work in the classroom for the good of the student. Contact them about any questions you have.
I can be most easily reached by e-mail. If you would like for me to call you, please send a note with your child.
