Mission Statement of Saint Agnes School
Saint Agnes Elementary School strives for excellence in providing a Catholic education that inspires and empowers our students to embrace the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ as compassionate and faithful Christians, who continue to pursue their spiritual journey, their highest academic potential, and stewardship to others.
Picture Forms: School pictures will be taken on Tuesday, October 12. Students may wear colorful, appropriate clothing to school that day. Please send in your picture forms with the choices noted and the money in the envelope now. The homeroom teacher will hold the forms until picture day. We will not call on picture day for forgotten forms and money. Thanks.
In-service Day for Teachers: This Friday, October 8th is an in-service day for teachers. There will be no school on October 8th.
Book Fair: Remember that the Scholastic Book Fair will be here next week from October 11-20th. Your child can shop the fair during their library time, if you would like, and purchase books. The books range in price from about $4 on up. Also, don’t forget that our Family Book Fair Night is next Wednesday, October 13th from 6-8pm. Thank you to all who volunteered to help out and bake cookies. We have more than enough volunteers to make this another successful event.
Uniforms: With the cold weather coming on, please check the uniform section in the Student Handbook. Look especially for sweaters, blouses, leggings, and socks. Blouses should be uniform blouses, and pants and shorts are to be uniform pants, not cargo pants with all the pockets. Thanks for your cooperation in insisting that your children wear the proper uniform.
Student Directory Now Available: The 2010-2011 Student Directory is now available on our website. To access the directory, please make sure you are logged into the website, and go to “Parent and Student Portal.” You will then be able to open the directory. You may print a copy of it to have on hand if you need it. Thank you!
Board of Education News:
You are invited to the next Board of Catholic Education meeting on Tuesday, October 12, at 7 pm in the school library. If you would like to speak or make a presentation, the diocese requires you to let the board secretary, Julia Hurst, know at jhurst@csg.org by October 7. Board of Education meetings are open meetings.

Around Our School
Did you know…Fr. Brian came over to visit the Second Graders? He reenacted a Baptism for both of the classes. He explained everything used at an actual Baptism. It was interesting.
Did you know…the fourth graders celebrated "Famous Kentuckian Day" on Tuesday? Each fourth grader researched a famous Kentuckian, dressed up like that person, and shared some facts about the person with the class. We even had a visit from a real famous Kentuckian. Doug Pelfrey stopped by the fourth grade and talked about his life as a football player with the Kentucky Wildcats and Cincinnati Bengals as well as what he has been doing since leaving football. It was a nice surprise and a fun learning experience for all.
Did you know…the eighth graders made their Confirmation commitment on Sunday during the 9:30 mass? These young men and women will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation on November 9th this year. Please pray for guidance for them as they make this next step into the faith.
