Mission Statement of Saint Agnes School
Saint Agnes School exists to provide excellence in Catholic education while inspiring and empowering our students to live the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. As compassionate and faithful Christians, we continue to pursue our spiritual journey, achieve our highest academic potential, and be stewards of the Catholic faith to others.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Our 2018-19 student council was announced within the past week. Our student council has done some great things recently, including leading in various service projects and fundraising for the new water fountains installed in the building this summer. I look forward to their leadership and working with them and their moderator, Mrs. Sharp, this year.
I would also like to encourage any parents who may be looking for a way to get more involved with the school to attend the Big Blue Bash planning meeting next Wednesday night, October 17. For those new to Saint Agnes, the PTO coordinates the Big Blue Bash each year and it has been an event where many of our school parents have enjoyed the fellowship while also helping our school. More information can be found about the meeting under the "PTO" section below. ~ Mr. Hoyt

Please Call in Absences and Tardies due to Appointments: Parents, just a friendly reminder to call the school office (859-261-0543) by 8 a.m. if your child will be absent from school or will be arriving late due to an appointment. This assists our administrative staff in documenting attendance each morning.
Lifetouch School Pictures: Picture day is Thursday, October 18. Don't forget to send back your order form or you can order online at mylifetouch.com (use Picture Day ID: JC118194Q0).
Sycamore Education: Parents, please make sure you can access your parent Sycamore account. This is where you will view your child's report cards and sign up for Parent-Teacher Conferences coming up next month. Please let Mindy Sucher (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Christina Woolley (email@example.com) know if you cannot get into your account.
Scholastic Book Fair Thank You: Thanks to all the parents and students for supporting our "Enchanted Forest" Fall Book Fair. 55 percent of our sales go back to the school to purchase much-needed books and supplies for our library and classrooms. We were able to purchase 52 Webster's Thesaurus for Students, which will go to our 4th grade classrooms. We were also able to earn over $400 worth of new books for our library and contribute 50 percent of that amount, which will be matched by Scholastic, to purchase books for a "sister" school in the US that needs support. Thank you for your support of our Book Fair.
Bus Schedules: If you need to access info about the Saint Agnes bus schedules, they can now be found on the Saint Agnes school website under the "Parent" tab.
Junior High Monster Mash Dance: On Friday, October 19, there will be a dance for Saint Agnes 6th-8th grade students only. The dance will be held at the Diocesan Children’s Home shelter area from 7-9:30 p.m. The cost is $5.00. Proceeds from the dance will go to the Diocesan Children’s Home. Tickets are currently being sold before school and a signed permission slip must accompany ticket purchase. Tickets will NOT be sold at the door. If you have questions feel free to contact Mrs. Turner at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Lunch 'n Learn: Would you like to help make sure your child's teacher is up-to-date with the latest technological trends? Please help us by providing lunch for the teachers during their monthly Lunch 'n Learns. The next Lunch 'n Learn is October 22! What are Lunch 'n Learns? Saint Agnes Computer Teacher/Technology Coordinator Christina Woolley will hold monthly meetings during teachers' lunches to bring teachers up-to-date on the latest technology trends. There are about 30-35 teachers in all. The food would need to be delivered to school by 10:30 a.m. the morning of the scheduled meeting. Thank you for your help and don't forget to count this towards your volunteer hours! http://signup.com/go/svTMBCR(link is external)
Log Service Hours: Do not forget to log your service hours on Sycamore Education. There have been many opportunities to log service at this point of the school year. Remember all students whose families have logged at least five service hours receive a spirit wear day on November 15. Those hours should be logged by November 12.
Marco's Eat Out Night: Mark your calendar for Tuesday, Oct. 16. This will be the next Marco's Pizza Eat Out Night. Order your pizza from the Crescent Springs location and our PTO receives 20 percent of the sales. Also, the classroom who has the most sales receives a pizza party. Last month Miss Wendt's class enjoyed a pizza treat - maybe this month it will be your child's homeroom.
Box Tops for Education: The fall Box Tops competition is on! Please start sending in the Box Tops coupons found on participating items to your child's classroom. They are each worth ten cents and the proceeds add up fast. The past few years we've been earning nearly $2000 for our school just for collecting the box tops from items you purchase anyway! If you want to know more, you can visit their website (https://www.boxtops4education.com/) or earn extra by downloading the Box Tops app. The box tops do not need to be perfectly trimmed, but they do need to have a visible expiration date and product code, and they cannot be expired. The classroom who sends in the most will earn a special class treat and extra recess!
Big Blue Bash: All parents are invited to the kick-off meeting to start planning this year's Big Blue Bash! The meeting will take place Wednesday, October 17, at 7 p.m. in the school library. Please join us for this informational meeting to learn more about our PTO's largest fundraiser. The Big Blue Bash is a fun night that takes place every year in the spring and includes dinner, drinks, dancing, raffles, and auctions. Proceeds from this event help fund operating expenses for our school, enrichment programs for our students, and classroom needs for our teachers and staff at Saint Agnes. We have several volunteer opportunities available and would love to have fresh ideas and input! We hope to see you there! If you have questions or would like more information please contact the BBB committee at email@example.com or visit our Facebook page www.facebook.com/saintagnesbigbluebash.
Artstop Classes: New classes will begin on November 3 for students ages 7-12. Click here for more information.
Diocesan Bible Study Catechetical Course: The next book of the Bible to be taught by Father Schehr is “First Samuel.” This book begins around a family dinner table and ends with competition between two kings for the throne of Israel. On Tuesday, October 9, at 7 p.m., Father Schehr will help look at some of its scenes and discover the faith lesson that binds it all together. Course details and online registration is now available at www.covdio.org/catechesis-formation. You may register online or download a course registration form to mail. You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (859) 392-1500, ext.1533 to register. Cost is $35 per course.
