Mission Statement of Saint Agnes School
Saint Agnes School exists to provide excellence in Catholic education while inspiring and empowering our students to live the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. As compassionate and faithful Christians, we continue to pursue our spiritual journey, achieve our highest academic potential, and be stewards of the Catholic faith to others.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
We look forward to welcoming our Saint Agnes Grandparents tomorrow and Friday! Our grandparents have such a special role in the lives of our students and our annual celebration with them is an important part of our school year calendar. K-4 parents, please be sure to return the permission slip for any student to be permitted to go home with grandparents at the end of the day tomorrow. Grades 5-8 parents, remember we will have a half-day of instructional time at the conclusion of Grandparents' Day activities on Friday so students are not permitted to leave early.
Often times I like to share with our school families an article or blog that is pertinent to your role as a parent. This week I would like to share a blog from Tim Elmore. Tim blogs a great deal about education, leadership, technology, and our younger generations. Yesterday's blog was an "eye opener" in that it speaks to the damage that iPhones (smart phones, in general) can have on our youth. Take a read when you have a chance! ~ Mr. Hoyt
Spirit Wear Day Postponed: Due to the K-4 Grandparents’ Day occurring tomorrow our previously scheduled Spirit Wear Day for tomorrow is being postponed until Thursday, November 30! No students are permitted to wear spirit wear tomorrow!
Kindergarten Registration 2018-19: Open registration for students entering kindergarten during the 2018-19 school year is now underway. If you did not receive the email, please log back in and finish the process.
Grandparents' Days: Saint Agnes Grandparents' Days are here. Our K-4 students will welcome grandparents on Thursday, November 16. Grandparents may go to their grandchildren's classrooms to visit from 12:30-1:00 p.m. The K-4 students will then entertain the grandparents with a program in the gym from 1:15-1:45 p.m. Remember permission slips must be returned for any K-4 student to dismiss with their grandparent. Grades 5-8 students will celebrate Grandparents' Day on Friday, November 17. Mass with grandparents will begin at 9:20 a.m. and grandparents will have an opportunity to visit with their grandchildren back at school following Mass until 11:00 a.m.
Parent Conferences: Parent-teacher conference sign-ups are currently underway. Parents may schedule conferences with their children's teachers next week. Sixth grade teachers will be available from 1-6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 20. All teachers will be available on Tuesday, Nov. 21, from Noon-8 p.m. For more information on how to register for parent-teacher conferences click here.
Annual Appeal: You likely received a notice in the mail within the past week introducing our school’s newest initiative, the “Fully Relying On God” Annual Appeal. You should expect an official donation form in a printed newsletter mailing around the week of Thanksgiving. We will be kicking off the annual appeal on “Giving Tuesday,” November 28.
Artists of the Week: Congratulations to our artists of the week: Lily Graham, Allison Dilbert, Lauren Heupel, Leo Thamann, Alyssa Coburn, and Kate Resing. Be sure to take a look at their artwork at the end of the newsletter.

Product survey: Please consider once again helping Saint Agnes earn money for the school! We are looking for 30-40 children ages 6-8 and accompanying parent or guardian to complete an oral care (toothpaste) study and survey. This will occur on Monday, December 11, from 3:30-6:00 p.m., in Murphy Hall. The children may taste the product; if your child has any known allergies, please do not sign them up to participate. Each survey should only take about 15 minutes. Please sign up for a time that is most convenient for your family. The link to sign up is http://signup.com/go/QdeWjhA. Saint Agnes will receive payment for each participating child with parent. We must have 30-40 participants to receive a bonus for perfect attendance. The last session we earned almost $500 for the school. Product surveys are a great opportunity for us to help Saint Agnes! Thank you, in advance, for participating in our fundraiser!
Families Needed for Advent Candle Lighting: Saint Agnes is seeking families interested in lighting the Advent Wreath at Masses during Advent. The weeks of Advent are December 2/3, 9/10, 16/17, and 23/24. We will need 16 families to cover our 16 Masses. At Mass the family would come up after the homily to light the candle(s) for that week. If you are interested send your name and the date and Mass time for which you would prefer to firstname.lastname@example.org or call the parish office and leave your info.
Breakfast with Santa is December 10: Our annual Breakfast with Santa event will take place Sunday, December 10, from 12:30-3:00 p.m. in our school.
