Mission Statement of Saint Agnes School
Saint Agnes Elementary School strives for excellence in providing a Catholic education that inspires and empowers our students to live the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ as compassionate and faithful Christians, who continue to pursue their spiritual journey, their highest academic potential, and stewardship to others.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Please wish our 8th grade the best. They will be gone Monday through Wednesday to attend Camp Joy. Camp Joy is located in Clarksville, Ohio. This is a great experience, a real highlight, of not just their 8th grade year but the entire experience at Saint Agnes. There is lots of opportunities for team building, development of leadership skills, and some fun, too. Thanks to our teachers and parents who help chaperon the class on their trip. Have a blast!
Also, parents be sure to complete the parent survey. In addition to looking at survey data to determine your views on our strengths and growth areas of our school, we also will be including results in our school accreditation report. Please complete the survey by this Friday, March 31. The survey link is located in an announcement below. ~ Mr. Hoyt
TEACHER OF THE WEEK
This week's Teacher of the Week is Ms. Becky Hill. Ms. Hill is one of our great veteran teachers at Saint Agnes. You can find her having lunch with some of her students on many days!
Years in Education: 25+
Why I Got into Education: I had a terrific teacher in third grade, Sister Maureen, who taught me the loving of reading. She was my inspiration to go into teaching.
Best Memory as an Educator: My first teaching job was at a school surrounded by a dairy farm. One day when I had my third graders out for recess the cows decided to invade the playground where the grass was greener. Needless to say, recess was over quickly and the next day we had to be on the lookout for cow patties in our playground. Fast forward 20 years...the farm is no longer there. It has been replaced by a golf course (not owned by Mr. Trump)!
What Do You Like about Saint Agnes: I have great friends here at Saint Agnes and I love teaching here.
Favorite Thing to Do Outside of School: The children in my classroom know that the library is my favorite place to visit since I love to read. I also enjoy walking my new Boston Terrier rescue dog, Maddie.
Spirit Wear Day Thursday: This Thursday is a Saint Agnes spirit wear day. Students may wear a Saint Agnes top with their uniform pants/shorts, gym sweatpants/shorts, or Saint Agnes spirit wear sweatpants/shorts.
Late Start Day Next Wednesday: Next Wednesday, April 5, is a late start day. The school day will begin at 8:45 a.m. The cafeteria doors will be open to students beginning at 8:10 a.m.
Congratulations to our Artists of the Week: Reese Kruze, Nicole Andrew, Lily Deye, Maria Judy, Annie Kleier, and Gwyneth Thomas. Be sure to check out their great artwork at the end of the newsletter.
SND Uganda Mission Collection: “Whatsoever you do for the least of my brothers and sisters, you do for Me.” We will collect for the students at St. Julie Ugandan Mission School again on Tuesday, April 4, and then have an out-of-uniform day on Thursday, April 6. We have enough money to send two students, and half enough for a third. Our goal is to pay for four students. Thank you for your support of St. Julie School.
Please Sign up for My Energy Kit: Please do not forget to sign up for a free energy kit at MyEnergyKit.org. This free kit is brought to you by Duke Energy. If we have 100 sign-ups for a free kit, Saint Agnes will receive $250. Currently, we have 50 signed up. Please sign up if you have not already! Your children should be receiving a free book mark that provides a reminder to sign up!

BOARD OF CATHOLIC EDUCATION NEWS
BOCE Parent / School Accreditation Survey: Parents, we would like to hear from you! The Saint Agnes Board of Catholic Education is asking each family to complete a survey. The Parent Survey is designed to give you the opportunity to give feedback on your child's experience at the school. Your input is greatly valued and the results of the survey will be compiled and reviewed by the Board and school administration. New this year - we received your feedback about the cumbersome design of the survey, and this year you will see a much more streamlined survey. The questions have also been designed to fulfill the parent survey required for the school’s five-year accreditation report, which is currently ongoing. We hope that it will be easier, and less time consuming to navigate and complete. Click on this link to complete the survey (one per household): https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FR3RFYX. Please be sure to complete the survey by this Friday, March 31.
Virtus Training: For any adult in our parish and school who would like to work with our youth, you must be Virtus-trained. Saint Agnes will be hosting a Virtus training on Thursday, March 30, in Murphy Hall, beginning at 6 p.m. To register for the Virtus training, please go to www.virtus.org and click on "Registration."
