Mission Statement of Saint Agnes School
Saint Agnes Elementary School strives for excellence in providing a Catholic education that inspires and empowers our students to live the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ as compassionate and faithful Christians, who continue to pursue their spiritual journey, their highest academic potential, and stewardship to others.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
It is hard to believe that we are at the half-way point of the school year. The second quarter ends this Friday, January 13. Second quarter report cards will be available by January 23. I would like to take this opportunity to give special recognition to four of our 8th grade students. Charlie Metzger, Daniel Bloemer, and Ben Dickhaus were all awarded high school placement test (HSPT) scholarships from Covington Catholic on Monday evening. Anne Kleier was also awarded a HSPT scholarship from Notre Dame Academy. Congratulations to these fine students on their academic excellence and the opportunity to attend these great high schools on an academic scholarship. I look forward to many of our 8th grade students receiving further recognition as we move throughout the rest of this school year. Our CCH and NDA scholarship recipients are pictured below! Congratulations! ~ Mr. Hoyt
TEACHER OF THE WEEK
This week's "Teacher of the Week" is 4th grade teacher Mrs. Vicki Smith. Learn more about Mrs. Smith below!
Years in Education: I have been teaching for 37 years, all of which have been at Saint Agnes School!
Why I Got into Education: I’ve always enjoyed working with children. I love learning new things and sharing what I have learned with the children. I’ve also enjoyed the challenge of teaching different grade levels over the years, including 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, and 8th.
Best Memory as an Educator: I remember how exciting it was in 1990 when we opened the new addition to our school, which included a gym, computer lab, science lab, junior high classrooms, and a new front office area! We are very lucky still today to benefit from the generosity of so many Saint Agnes parishioners that made this addition possible for our school.
What Do You Like about Saint Agnes: The Saint Agnes school community of students, parents, teachers, and administration are the best! In the past several years, it has been neat to be teaching students whose parents I taught. It says a lot when families choose to stay part of our Saint Agnes school community.
Favorite Thing to Do Outside of School: I love spending time with my two young grandchildren. I also like to travel with my family and attend sporting events.
Out-of-Uniform Day Tomorrow: Tomorrow will be an out-of-uniform day for $1. All proceeds will benefit the Daniels family as Wes Daniels recovers from his recent heart procedure.
No School Monday: Please remember that there is no school on Monday as we observe Martin Luther King, Jr., Day.
Re-registration of current school families for the 2017-18 school year: Re-enrollment for current students for the 2017-18 school year has begun. This year the entire registration process will be online. Every school family will need to fill out the re-enrollment form to let us know if your child will be returning to Saint Agnes. The re-enrollment form can be accessed from your Ascend account. Simply log in and click on the tab at the top that says "re-enroll". A $30 registration fee is also required for each student returning to Saint Agnes. After filling out the re-enrollment form, send your check to the school office in a clearly marked envelope that says "School Office - Registration Fee." Deadline for registration is January 25. Anyone registering after that date will have to pay a late registration fee of $40/student. (If you do not have your Ascend log-in information, please email Mindy Sucher in the office at firstname.lastname@example.org )
Reminder to families that have already re-enrolled: Thank you to the many families that have already re-enrolled on Ascend; however, many still owe the registration fee. Don't forget to send in the registration fee of $30/student to complete your registration for next year.
Junior High Science Fair: It is that time again! The science fair will take place February 1 this year. This is a wonderful event which cuts across all curricula and is a wonderful public display of what exciting things our Saint Agnes junior high students can accomplish. In order to accomplish this evening, it takes a village. Attached here is a list of possible volunteer positions that would really help pull this off. You may respond to Jorja Kremer at email@example.com or, next week, we will hopefully have links to Sign Up Spot. Thank you for all of your help!
Catholic Schools Week Activities: Catholic Schools Week will take place Jan. 30 - Feb. 3 this year. We have established our daily theme and activities for the week. They are as follows:

Lunch 'n Learns: Would you like to help make sure your student's teacher is up-to-date with the latest technological trends? Please help us by providing lunch for the teachers during their monthly Lunch 'n Learns. What are Lunch 'n Learns? Saint Agnes Computer/Technology Coordinator and Guru, Christina Woolley, will be holding monthly meetings during lunch to keep teachers updated on the latest technology trends. There are about 30-35 teachers in all. We are asking for (at least) two volunteers for each category of food listed. The next one is in February. The food would need to be delivered to school by 10:30 a.m. the morning of the scheduled meeting. https://signup.com/client/invitation/6775657374/1655628/false#!1655628/false/false
