FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
Happy New Year! It is great to have our students back this week. The word "routine" is such an important word for all of us. After a couple weeks of family time and sleeping in, I think many will agree that is great for us all to be back into a routine. We lead more productive lives when we have our daily rituals, even if it means getting up earlier in the morning!
This week I want to alert you to re-enrollment for the 2017-18 school year for all current families. We are now conducting re-enrollment for grades 1-8 for all current school families. Information on re-enrolling is listed under "School News" below. Please be advised that all re-enrollment will be done online using your Ascend SMS account this year. The deadline for re-enrollment is January 25. Please be prompt with your re-enrollment as we do have waiting lists for many classes.
I hope 2017 is prosperous for you, your family, and Saint Agnes! ~ Mr. Hoyt
TEACHER OF THE WEEK
This week's Teacher of the Week is 6th Grade Teacher Mrs. Bridget Gruner! "Mrs. G" teaches Language Arts and Religion to all of our sixth grade students. Get to know "Mrs. G" a little more:
Years in Education: 25 years
Why I Got into Education: I come from a long line of teachers. My day, several aunts, a brother-in-law, and a sister-in-law are also in education. When I was in grade school, I used to get picked to tutor other students at lunch. In junior high, for some reason, I was allowed to make the purple ditto worksheets for our class. I remember adding drawings to jazz them up for my friends and classmates.
Best Memory as an Educator: I have too many favorite memories in education to count! Scarlet (our recently adopted dog)says being in the Doggie Election was definitely one of the top ten moments!
What Do You Like about Saint Agnes: My favorite thing about Saint Agnes is that the teachers and students are so welcoming and kind. My family was fortunate to end up here when we were looking for schools many years ago. I love that the whole community is so giving and watches out for one another.
Favorite Thing To Do Outside of School: I have many things I like to do outside of school. #1 is being with my family, especially watching my kids' games and traveling.
Re-registration of current school families for the 2017-18 school year: It is time for our current families to re-enroll students for the 2017-18 school year. This year the entire registration process will be online. Every school family will need to fill out the re-enrollment form to let us know if your child will be returning to Saint Agnes. The re-enrollment form can be accessed from your Ascend account. Simply log in and click on the tab at the top that says "re-enroll". A $30 registration fee is also required for each student returning to Saint Agnes. After filling out the re-enrollment form, send your check to the school office in a clearly marked envelope that says "School Office - Registration Fee." Deadline for registration is January 25. Anyone registering after that date will have to pay a late registration fee of $40/student.
Winter Coat Season: Parents, please also be sure to have students wear winter coats, hats, and gloves. With temperatures below freezing and a long winter ahead, students will need these when they are not inside the building. Children will still have outdoor recess if the temperature is above 25 degrees.
Please Label All Outerwear: Please make sure all student outerwear, including jackets, pullovers, sweatpants and sweatshirts, and lunch boxes have names on them. We have been receiving many items that need to be placed in the lost & found because there are no student names.
Wildcast: Check out last month's edition of the Wildcast: https://safeshare.tv/x/y4eeUI0Npcc
Lunch 'n Learns: Would you like to help make sure your student's teacher is up-to-date with the latest technological trends? Please help us by providing lunch for the teachers during their monthly Lunch 'n Learns. What are Lunch 'n Learns? Saint Agnes Computer/Technology Coordinator and Guru, Christina Woolley, will be holding monthly meetings during lunch to keep teachers updated on the latest technology trends. There are about 30-35 teachers in all. We are asking for (at least) two volunteers for each category of food listed. The food would need to be delivered to school by 10:30 a.m. the morning of the scheduled meeting. https://signup.com/client/invitation/6775657374/1655628/false#!1655628/false/false
