Mission Statement of Saint Agnes School
Saint Agnes Elementary School strives for excellence in providing a Catholic education that inspires and empowers our students to embrace the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ as compassionate and faithful Christians, who continue to pursue their spiritual journey, their highest academic potential, and stewardship to others.

Thanks for all your help with Catholic School Week Activities last week. It was a fun week! It was great to see so many parents at the Mass, the Science Fair, the Academic Showcase, and of course the volleyball game. Thanks for all your support of everything we do here at school!

Happy Valentine’s Day: On Monday, students will have valentine treats or parties depending on the grade level, sponsored by the PTO.

Kids on the Block: On Wednesday, February 16, students in grades K-4 will attend the Kids on the Block Program. It is a child safe program required by the diocese every two years.

Cafeteria Volunteers Needed: For the month of February, we still need some help in cafeteria.

• Feb 14 - one needed
• Feb 15 - one needed
• Feb 21st make up day – two needed
• Feb 28th - one needed

In March, we need many days covered. Please contact Mary Fischer at cafeteria@saintagnes.com to volunteer, or call the cafeteria at 261-4924. Thank you!

BIG BLUE BASH 2011: We are a short 24 days away from the BBB! You should have received your invite. Please make sure you read through the entire invite for important information for the event! If you have anything you'd like to donate, please contact Teri Judy at terijudy@gmail.com  or Jill Hassman at jhassman@fuse.net  - deadline for donations is February 25. If you or someone you know would like to sponsor the event, please contact Jenny Schneider at jlsmchales@gmail.com.  Finally, we could not make this event successful without the help of so many of you! Please email Marijo Fischer at fischert@fuse.net if you'd like to volunteer your help. We need help before, the day of (set-up), and the night of - let us know what works for you! Also, feel free to join us at our meeting on Thursday at 7:30pm in the library to see what's going on and where you can help.

The Box Top War is in full swing!!! Who is going to win the prize this time???  Clip those box tops and send them in to your child's homeroom! Deadline for this war is Friday February 18! Help your class win today!! On our last turn in day we earned $1023! Let's beat that this time!!!

Looking for Volunteers: PTO is always looking for people to join our committees for different events. New faces, new ideas are always welcome!! Look for more details to come on how you can help!!! We are currently looking to fill the role of vice-president for the 2011-2012 school year. Boosters News:

Baseball Registration: Registrations for knothole, t-ball, and coach pitch are being accepted until February 12th. Registrations received after February 12th are not guaranteed a roster spot and will only be accepted as needed to fill rosters. Please note that there will be no in person registration. Sign-up forms are available via the website and click on the School link. Instructional teams (t-ball and coach pitch) will begin practice in early April and games begin in early May. Practice usually stops once games begin. Games are played on Wed. or Thurs. evening and the season lasts about eight weeks. Knothole teams generally start practice in mid March (weather permitting) with league games starting in late April and going through June. Knothole teams will generally practice one night per week and play 1-2 games per week (16 league games). Practice schedules are not known until teams are formed and coaches are determined. 8th Grade Girls: Notre Dame Academy would like to invite your eighth grade daughter and you to enjoy the dress rehearsal of our CABARET show which features the top talent of Notre Dame and Covington Catholic in the areas of voice, dance, drama and instrumental music. The show is scheduled for Wednesday, February 16th in the afternoon from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Admission is free. Hope you are able to come and enjoy an afternoon of entertainment.

Did you know…. the Junior High Governor’s Cup team placed second in the regional competition last Saturday? Twelve schools entered the competition. The following students have qualified for the state competition:

Did you know…the 8th graders ‘experienced’ World War I? We turned our Social Studies classroom into the war trenches and then wrote postcards sharing what it must have been like for the soldiers of WWI.

Did you know…the 7th grade furthered their knowledge of the Constitution in Social Studies by designing and wearing (paper bag) vests with questions on them? The students then tried to challenge one another with these questions.
