Mission Statement of Saint Agnes School
Saint Agnes Elementary School strives for excellence in providing a Catholic education that inspires and empowers our students to embrace the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ as compassionate and faithful Christians, who continue to pursue their spiritual journey, their highest academic potential, and stewardship to others.
Catholic School Week: Wow….what a roll we are on…
The opening prayer service was a nice beginning to our Catholic School Week. We invited some alumni to tell us some great stories from their days at St. Agnes School after the prayer service. What fun to hear stories from the olden days!!!
Despite the fact that the bowling had to be rescheduled, our foyer is filled with soup for the poor. We will reschedule bowling on a day when there is no chance of bad weather!! The junior high science fair was impressive Tuesday evening. Check out the projects in the gym tonight!
Today eight of our students attended the Catholic School Week mass at the Cathedral. The bishop usually gives students no homework for the rest of the week as a Catholic School week treat. This year the bishop said he is tired of getting in trouble with teachers and parents about no homework, or letting children off of school, so the principal can give all the students a Catholic School Week treat. Our eighth grade student council is going to present five suggestions for a treat for all the students to me and I will try to pick one of them for our special Catholic School Week treat. Stay tuned to the newsletter and you will see what was chosen.
The ice cream social was fun for all! We hope to see all of you tonight for our Mass and Academic Showcase. Check out the classroom activities, the science fair and don’t miss the wax museum. See you at 6:00 in church! The school will not be opened for visitors until after mass. Teachers will unlock the classrooms and turn on the lights after mass. Thanks.
Tomorrow is “Get Up and Move Day.” Wait until you hear about that from your children! Tomorrow students may wear any sport team shirts…with uniform bottoms or gym uniforms. Friday is all school liturgy; students may wear any catholic school spiritwear….and if you dare, join us for the eighth grade vs teacher volleyball game at 1:00.
At coffee and donuts after mass on Sunday, various projects and a few wax museum characters will attend. Come to coffee and donuts after mass on Sunday.
Thanks to all the parents, teachers and friends who have helped us so much this week!!!! We appreciate all of us working together to make this a special week!!!
Registrations: We are now accepting open registrations for next school year in most grade levels.
Delay Schedules: Remember parents, for your convenience, if we are ever on a delay because of snow or ice, I am always in the school office at the normal time… often earlier on those days. Don’t hesitate to bring your children at normal time. Thank you.
Save the Date for LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! March 24th at 6:30 ~ ALL 4th, 5th & 6th graders, families and friends! For the next six weeks, your son or daughter will be rehearsing this music revue during music class. Around Our School
Did you know….the 7th and 8th Grade Regional Governor’s Cup competition starts Tuesday and will finish Saturday at St. Henry School? Good luck!
Did you know…sixth grade students are making planetary models of the solar system and researching facts about each planet, the sun, earth’s moon, asteroids, comets, and meteors? We will be visiting the Drake Planetarium on February 8th where we will construct our own mars rovers and see programs on the winter sky and constellations.
Did you know…the third graders went to the Cincinnati Museum Center last Thursday to become “Rock Stars”? They attended a learning lab there where they did fun experiments. After that they saw the movie “Forces of Nature.” A few of the students commented that they were so glad that they do not live near a volcano.
The third graders also have been bringing in old blankets and towels to give to the Clermont County Animal Shelter. The people at the shelter were so very happy to receive them on Saturday. Now the animals have something warm to lay on while they are waiting for their forever home.
Did you know…the third grade just finished the Steps to Respect Program. They learned how to keep the classroom and the school a bully-free zone! They even signed a pledge to keep bullying behavior out! Good job, Third Grade!
