Congratulations, girls, parents and teachers! Ten students out of the 51 eighth graders received scholarships!!!

ACRE Tests: Students in grades 5 and 8 are taking the ACRE tests this week. It is a national religion test that tests material and religious values of students. It is required for all students in the diocese.

Save Shoes — to Donate: Please hang on to any shoes that may be too small for your children. During lent we have a service project that involves donating new or gently used shoes, boots, slippers that your family can no longer use to someone who needs them.

New Risers: Our new choral risers are coming today. Now we can perform our music programs using the risers without damaging the gym floor; stop praying that someone doesn’t get hurt while putting them up or taking them down, and assemble them in half the time. We will be using them for the first time at our spring concert on March 24th. Thanks to Mr. Berling for helping us get a super deal!

Around Our School

A third grade girl was overheard saying, “I made out all of my Valentines for the party, but I only did them for the girls. I’m not giving valentines to any of those yucky boys in my class!” Just give her a few years!!!

Congratulations to Mrs. P.J. Berling! On Friday, February 11th, she and her family traveled to Frankfort, Kentucky, where she was sworn in as a citizen of the United States. Mrs. Berling is originally from Thailand but has lived in America for over thirty years. She began the citizenship process about seven years ago while living in New York. At the ceremony, there were forty-three people from twenty-six countries who officially became Americans. Her children, Taylor (8th grade), Cameron (6th grade), and Theresa (4th grade) are very proud of her! Your St. Agnes family welcomes you as a new citizen of the United States!!!!

Did you know…according to a recent article in Reader’s Digest, an 80-year study revealed some surprising secrets to longevity? The key personality predictor of a long life was one that they never expected: conscientiousness. It was the students who did their homework, whose parents would say, “She/he has a good head on her/his shoulders” who lived the longest. These students developed healthy patterns and then maintained them. People who weren’t dependable as children but became more responsible as adults did well too. This, of course, is just what a teacher wants to hear.
