Mission Statement of Saint Agnes School
Saint Agnes School exists to provide excellence in Catholic education while inspiring and empowering our students to live the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. As compassionate and faithful Christians, we continue to pursue our spiritual journey, achieve our highest academic potential, and be stewards of the Catholic faith to others.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
We have many Christmas-related activities going on that which I would like to remind everyone. First, we are bringing back a school tradition from long ago with the Secret Santa Shop. This is a great opportunity for our students to do their own shopping for family members. When presented with the idea for the shop I wanted to be sure this was not a fundraiser. While we had the opportunity through our vendor to raise money we chose their lowest price to keep gifts as affordable as possible for our families. Any incentives that the vendor provides will be sent to the Diocesan Catholic Childrens' Home. All of our classes will be previewing the Secret Santa Shop this Friday or Monday and shopping will begin Monday afternoon through Thursday. All classes have an assigned time to shop. The Secret Santa Shop will be placed in Murphy Hall. Thank you to our parents who have volunteered to help with the shop next week.
Second, we will have one of my favorite events of the year, the K-3 Christmas Concert, this Monday. The concert will take place at 7 p.m. in the church. Last, our PTO is hosting an "Ugly Christmas Sweater Party" this Saturday evening. This is a fundraiser and sounds like a lot of fun. If you parents do not have anything already going on Saurday sign up for the party at the Zinga's home. Thank you to them for hosting at the POP party committee for organizing this PTO fundraiser! More details about the party can be found in this newsletter. ~ Mr. Hoyt
Smiles & Miles T-Shirt Day Friday: All students and staff may wear a Smiles & Miles t-shirt from any year this Friday, December 14. The Smiles & Miles event committee will be making a check presentation to our school after our school Mass. Our school is one of the beneficiaries from the annual event. Students who wear a Smiles & Miles t-shirt may treat Friday like a spirit wear day except only Smiles & Miles t-shirts are permitted. Gym sweatpants may be worn with the t-shirt and girls may wear tights under gym shorts with the t-shirt.
Advent 2018: There is still time to send in items for our Northern Kentucky Emergency Shelter collection. Students are encouraged to bring boxes of breakfast cereal, snacks such as peanut butter crackers, granola bars, energy bars, toothbrushes, travel-sized toothpaste and deodorant, and men’s and women’s hats and gloves. Please have all donations in by this Friday, December 14, to allow time for delivery. Thank you to all who participated in our out-of-uniform day that benefited the Children's Home. We collected $1052.31. Thank you for being so generous. Have a blessed Advent season and a Merry Christmas!
Saint Agnes Christmas Shop: The Saint Agnes Secret Santa Shop will open next Monday, December 17. Today each student will come home with an envelope and a letter explaining the envelope and the shop, along with the day your child(ren) will be shopping. If you would like to volunteer please use the link to sign up. If you have any questions please email Stacey Moorhead at firstname.lastname@example.org.
School Choir at Park Hills Christmas: The Saint Agnes school choir has been invited to sing at the Annual Park Hills Christmas Celebration. The fun starts on Sunday, December 16, at 6 p.m. The choir members will be singing Christmas carols to kick off the festivities, which includes carriage rides, a luminary night, Christmas Tree lighting, and a visit from Santa. So mark your calendars and join in the fun!
Christmas Break: Our Christmas break will begin with an 11 a.m. dismissal on Friday, December 21. School will resume on Monday, January 7.
December is an Open Virtus Month: December is an open month for Virtus users. This is a great time for all who may be behind in reading their bulletins to get caught up. Remember that all adults who work with the youth in our parish and Diocese must be Virtus-compliant.
Big Blue Bash: Save the Date for the Big Blue Bash! The Saint Agnes School Parent Teacher Organization is hosting the 19th Annual Big Blue Bash Fundraising Event. The proceeds from this event go directly to the school’s PTO. This year’s event will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019, at The Cincinnati Club from 6:30 p.m. to midnight. Look for CASH! CASH! CASH! raffle, early bird drawings, event sponsorships, silent auctions, and games/prizes. More event details to come! Look for your save-the-date magnet in today's Wednesday folder.
POP Ugly Sweater Christmas Open House and Beverage Tasting: Time to pull out your Ugliest Christmas Sweater to support a great cause... our PTO! Please RSVP at the enclosed Evite link even if you are a maybe! A headcount is needed for food and beverages. Curt and Holly Zinga would like to cordially invite all Saint Agnes parents and parishioners to a Christmas Ugly Sweater Open House and Beverage Tasting to raise funds for our school's PTO! Girls Fast-Pitch Softball: We are looking for girls interested in playing Fast-pitch softball in the spring. Registration for softball begins in February 2019, but plans are being made for the season. Saint Agnes teams would play in the NKYA league. NKYA is a recreational softball league for girls ranging in age from 7 to 13. Here is a breakdown of potential teams Saint Agnes could have:
8U Machine Pitch - 7 and 8 year olds
10U Modified Kid Pitch - 9 and 10 year olds
13U - 11, 12, and 13 year olds
Practices at Saint Agnes would begin in the beginning of April and games at Richardson Road Park in Independence would begin at the end of April and continue into July. If your daughter might be interested, or if you have questions, please contact Lori Delaney firstname.lastname@example.org. Again this is not official registration. We are just trying to figure out if we will have enough girls for a team.
