Mission Statement of Saint Agnes School
Saint Agnes School exists to provide excellence in Catholic education while inspiring and empowering our students to live the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. As compassionate and faithful Christians, we continue to pursue our spiritual journey, achieve our highest academic potential, and be stewards of the Catholic faith to others.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
We have had a great first day-and-a-half! Yesterday morning we gathered together as a school community for the first time and introduced our school theme for this year – F.R.O.G. (Fully Rely on God). You may have seen some frogs around! Each student received a bookmark with our school theme on one side and our school’s mission statement, which was reviewed and revised last spring, on the other side. We also have a song that we will sing throughout the school year that reminds us to “FROG”!
I would also like to thank the Boosters for putting on another great golf outing this past Saturday. It was another great Saint Agnes community event. All of the hours of preparation are much appreciated. Lastly, I look forward to seeing many of you at our parish homecoming this Friday evening. This is a great event that idoes not cost much and is lots of fun for the whole family. If you are able, please join us at 5:30 p.m. in the church for Mass to kick off the homecoming festivities. See you Friday! ~ Mr. Hoyt
School Mass Tomorrow: We will be having our weekly school Mass tomorrow, Thursday, August 24, at our new 9:20 a.m. Mass time. We will resume our weekly Friday Mass next week.
Car Line Reminders: Our car lines have been relatively efficient in the mornings and afternoons. Please remember that if you are the first car in the morning or afternoon car lines please remember to pull up all the way to the far end of the sidewalk along Mulloy Drive where the painted curb is. Also, be sure to pull up all the way to the car in front of you. This allows more cars to drop off children behind your car and makes traffic run smoother.
A Note for After-Care Parents: For parents who have children enrolled in our Children, Inc., after-care program please park in one of the parking spots along Mulloy Drive near the Adoration Chapel or the church parking lot and walk in to pick up your children. Traffic is unable to flow through Mulloy Drive if any cars park along there.
Room Parents/Homeroom Helpers: It's that time of year again to sign up to be a Room Parent or Homeroom Helper for your child's classroom. Please consider doing this as the kids and teachers need your support! The form is attached here. Please note that you MUST be Virtus-certified to be either a Room Parent or Homeroom Helper. If you have any questions, please feel free to email Carlene Brungs at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Boy Scouts Sign-ups: Any Saint Agnes boys in grades K-5 interested in Cub Scouts pack 773 may sign up on August 30 at 7 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. More information may be found here.
Playground Volunteer Sign-up: The sign-up for volunteers is now available at http://signup.com/go/oOJeYZD. Currently, parents may sign up for grades K-3 recess assistance. Please remember that you must be Virtus-compliant to volunteer.
Cafeteria Staff Member Needed: A position on the school cafeteria staff is currently available. The position consists of a five-day work week for a total of 15 hours. Please call our cafeteria manager Teresa Daugherty at (859) 261-0543 or email email@example.com to schedule an interview.
Online payments - Any online payments for student cafeteria accounts may be paid through K12PaymentCenter.com. All payments made through K12 Payment Center go directly into the students’ lunch accounts. This is an explanation of K12 Payment Center’s policies and procedures. Please note that there is a fee when you make a payment through K12 Payment Center. Before making a payment on K12 Payment Center parents will need to change their account settings and update the student’s new Meals Plus account number. New student lunch account numbers and current lunch balance totals were sent home yesterday. Check your child's backpack if you did not see it.
Direct payments to school - Parents may also send in money for cafeteria accounts through kid mail. There is no fee when sending the money directly through the school. Please put your check/cash in an envelope, include your driver's license number on the check, mark the envelope with your child's name, and indicate that it is for the cafeteria.
Free & Reduced Lunch Program: If you would like to apply for the Free & Reduced Lunch Program you may do so by filling out this application. For further information regarding the Free & Reduced Lunch program you please read the instructions on how to apply to the program and the “FAQ” page. You may also register online at https://www.lunchapplication.com/select-district.
Homecoming: It's Homecoming time! Please join us on the parish grounds for a fun evening on Friday, August 25, from 6-11 p.m. There will be food, live music and games for the kids. This is a chance to enjoy a low-cost evening celebrating Saint Agnes Parish while seeing new and old friends! We hope you can make it!
Volunteers are still needed for Homecoming. This year we have gone to online sign-ups for volunteers. Simply click the following link to volunteer: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/508084aacaf2da6fc1-homecoming
A Message from RCIA: Are you searching for… a deeper relationship with God, a sense of belonging in a faith community, a greater understanding of your mission in life? Have you ever been curious about the difference between the Catholic and Protestant Bibles, about how Catholics relate to Mary and the saints, about what Catholics believe in regard to the moral issues of our day, or about what your children are learning in religion class at Saint Agnes?
Come and join us in the RCIA process at Saint Agnes to learn about the Catholic faith. We meet every Sunday after the 9:30 a.m. Mass in the rectory conference room (under the deck on the big parking lot side of Church). All are welcome! For more information, please call the rectory at (859) 431-1802 or email firstname.lastname@example.org .
Oktoberfest: The 3rd Annual Saint Agnes Oktoberfest will be held October 6-8. Oktoberfest is one of our great parish events that has enabled our school tuition to increase only 0.5 percent over the past two years. Our school families who are parish members recently received their raffle tickets. Please try to sell those raffle tickets and return sales to the school or parish office. More information will be forthcoming on how to volunteer during Oktoberfest weekend. The schedule for the weekend’s activities can be found here. If you are interested in sponsoring Oktoberfest you may fill out and return this form.
Children's Choir: Our Children's Choir is directed by Mr. Bobby Fischer. Click here for information on joining. The first rehearsal is August 30.
Congratulations 6th Grade Baseball: Congratulations to our (now) sixth grade baseball team who won the Crosstown League Championship back in June. They went 11-1 in the regular season and capped off their season with three wins in the league tournament to claim the championship. Saint Agnes team members were Vincent DiTommaso, William Thomas, Steven Moore, Simon Fieler, Elliott Fieler, Jack Cruse, Noah Hodge, Ethan Davis, Hank Smith, and Jonah Wainscott.
Smiles & Miles 5K Run/Walk: The Smiles & Miles 5K, honoring Maria Schaffstein, will be held on Sunday, September 17. The event begins at 4 p.m. and is open to individuals of all ages and fitness levels. The Katie Stewart Memorial Frog Hop will be returning for a second year! This event will be available for children ages six and under and was very well received during its inauguration in 2016. Any student participating in the 2017 Smiles and Miles 5K run/walk event may wear their Smiles and Miles t-shirt or a Smiles and Miles t-shirt from past years on September 22.
Please use the attached form to register. Early registration is available until Friday, September 8 (for family discount and commemorative t-shirt), or you can sign up on race day beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the school gym.
We need your help to make this a successful event! Volunteer signups will be managed via Signup Genius and can be found at the following link: http:///bit.ly/smilesandmiles2017. When completing your sign up, please be sure to include your full name and email address.
