Mission Statement of Saint Agnes School
Saint Agnes School exists to provide excellence in Catholic education while inspiring and empowering our students to live the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. As compassionate and faithful Christians, we continue to pursue our spiritual journey, achieve our highest academic potential, and be stewards of the Catholic faith to others.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
The start of a new school year is a great time to remind everyone of proper safety procedures for dropping off and picking up students. Many of you may have already noticed that we have installed a sidewalk along Mulloy Drive. This will allow students to walk on the sidewalk as they are walking towards and exiting from their cars. This sidewalk also eliminates the possibility of cars going both directions through that space. For that reason please adhere to the new signage that has been placed along Mulloy Drive. All traffic along Mulloy should come from Old State Road, heading east, except for our dismissal time when cars may enter from the lines formed in the church parking lot. During our dismissal, any students being picked up must be picked up in the car line. Please do not arrange to pick your child up at another location on campus.
I also would like to inform you that any parents who wish to walk their child into the school building on the first day of school please park in the church parking lot near the basketball goals and walk them into the building. The cafeteria doors will be open at 7:15 a.m. each day and students will be dismissed to their homerooms at 7:30 a.m. See you soon! ~ Mr. Hoyt
School Open Tomorrow: Please remember that the school building will be open tomorrow from Noon – 3 p.m. for students to walk through and find their new classrooms. Gym uniforms will also be available for purchase in the school office during that time.
Academic Team Coach Needed: The Saint Agnes Academic Team program has a great history of success and has served as an outstanding formative program for our students over many years. Our Varsity Academic Team is in need of a coach for the coming school year. This position entails becoming trained (if not already) at the KAAC Conference in September, leading practices a few days per week, coordinating matches, and collaborating with coaches of our other academic teams. This is a paid, stipend position.
First Day of School August 22: The first day of school will take place Tuesday, August 22. Dismissal will occur at 11 a.m. that day.
School Mass Thursday Next Week: We will be having our weekly school Mass on Thursday, August 24, next week, at our new 9:20 a.m. Mass time. We will resume our weekly Friday Mass the following week.
Attention All Virtus Users: During the month of August, ALL accounts will be open or un-suspended. If you are not up-to-date on reading your monthly bulletins you can do so during August. If you have any questions please contact Beth at the Parish Office at 431-1802 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
For Those Interested in Volunteering, here is what you need to do:
1. Go to www.virtus.org and create an account.
2. Sign up for and attend a Live Training Session. Sessions are listed on the Virtus website.
3. Run a background check through Selection.com. Do this through your Virtus account by clicking on the Toolbox tab and click “Selection.com Background Check” in the upper left column.
4. Contact Msgr. Don Enzweiler at the Parish Office to set up a 15 minute meeting. He will give you two forms that you need to complete.
5. Once all of the above is done and the Diocese processes your forms, you will receive an email stating your account is now “active” and you will be able to volunteer.
6. To remain “active” you will be required to read a monthly bulletin and answer a question regarding the bulletin.
If you have any question about the process, please contact Beth at the Parish Office (431-1802 or email@example.com).
Cafeteria Staff Member Needed: A position on the school cafeteria staff is currently available. The position consists of a five-day work week for a total of 15 hours. Please call our cafeteria manager Teresa Daugherty at (859) 261-0543 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule an interview.
Meals Plus: Meals Plus is our cafeteria’s payment center. With our new school management system (Sycamore Education), Meals Plus lunch numbers will be changing. These are the account numbers that the students use when purchasing their lunches daily. We will be sending home the new Meals Plus lunch numbers the first day of school.
Online payments: Any online payments for student cafeteria accounts may be paid through K12PaymentCenter.com. All payments made through K12 Payment Center go directly into the students’ Meals Plus accounts. This is an explanation of K12 Payment Center’s policies and procedures. Please note that there is a fee when you make a payment through K12 Payment Center. Before making a payment on K12 Payment Center parents will need to change their account settings with the student’s new Meals Plus account number. For further information regarding K12 Payment Center please read these “FAQs for Parents.”
Parents may also send in money for Meals Plus cafeteria accounts through kid mail. There is no fee when sending the money directly through the school.
Free & Reduced Lunch Program: If you would like to apply for the Free & Reduced Lunch Program you may do so by filling out this application. For further information regarding the Free & Reduced Lunch program you please read the instructions on how to apply to the program and the “FAQ” page. You may also register online at https://www.lunchapplication.com/select-district.
Homecoming Volunteers Needed: It's that time of year again! Our annual parish Homecoming event is just around the corner – Friday, August 25. This year, in addition to signing up volunteers after Mass, we have gone to online sign-ups for volunteers. It's quick and easy to use. Simply click the following link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/508084aacaf2da6fc1-homecoming
Oktoberfest: The 3rd Annual Saint Agnes Oktoberfest will be held October 6-8. Oktoberfest is one of our great parish events that has enabled our school tuition to increase only 0.5 percent over the past two years. Our school families who are parish members recently received their raffle tickets. Please try to sell those raffle tickets and return sales to the school or parish office. More information will be forthcoming on how to volunteer during Oktoberfest weekend. The schedule for the weekend’s activities can be found here. If you are interested in sponsoring Oktoberfest you may fill out and return this form.
Preschool Religion: My name is Stacey Moorhead and I am organizing the Preschool Religion Program at St. Agnes. This is my first year heading this program and I am excited to be involved in such a wonderful group. Our teachers are eager to get back to the work of sharing the Lord’s love and teachings with our small, but spirited faithful! If your child is ages 3-5 (and potty trained) and would like to be a part of this program please contact me via email, for an enrollment form. Please have your enrollment form turned into me by no later than September 8. The fee for the program is $40, if cost is an issue, please contact me and we can work something out.
We are always in need of helping hands for PSR. If you would like to offer some time to enrich the program, we would love to have you! All adult volunteers must be VIRTUS-compliant at all times when working with the children. We also welcome older students (Grades 6-12) to join us as aides. This is a wonderful experience for our young people and an excellent way to earn service hours. If you are interested please contact me at email@example.com or (859) 907-3667.
Smiles & Miles 5K Run/Walk: The Smiles & Miles 5K, honoring Maria Schaffstein, will be held on Sunday, September 17. The event begins at 4 p.m. and is open to individuals of all ages and fitness levels. The Katie Stewart Memorial Frog Hop will be returning for a second year! This event will be available for children ages six and under and was very well received during its inauguration in 2016.
Online registration information can be found at www.sprunning.com (under Registration). Early registration is available until Friday, September 8 (for family discount and commemorative t-shirt), or you can sign up on race day beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the school gym.
We need your help to make this a successful event! Volunteer signups will be managed via Signup Genius and can be found at the following link: http:///bit.ly/smilesandmiles2017. When completing your sign up, please be sure to include your full name and email address. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact Annette Ward by phone or email (859-760-6341 or firstname.lastname@example.org).
