Mission Statement of Saint Agnes School
Saint Agnes School exists to provide excellence in Catholic education while inspiring and empowering our students to live the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. As compassionate and faithful Christians, we continue to pursue our spiritual journey, achieve our highest academic potential, and be stewards of the Catholic faith to others.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
I want to inform you that we will not be hosting a "Meet-the-Teacher Night" this school year. Our faculty normally tries to schedule "Meet-the-Teacher" on the same day as our first faculty meeting day. However, this year that meeting falls on a Friday so we determined we would elect to not have it this year. Instead, our students are welcome to check out the school building next Thursday, August 17, from 12 noon-3 p.m. Teachers may or may not be in the building but this may be a good opportunity for any new or younger students to find their classrooms before the first day of school. Of course, we will welcome all of our school parents during our annual Back-to-School Night on September 7. I would like to ask that school supplies be brought in the first days of school, rather than prior to the beginning of the school year. We look forward to seeing all of our students sometime soon! ~ Mr. Hoyt
Academic Team Coach Needed: The Saint Agnes Academic Team program has a great history of success and has served as an outstanding formative program for our students over many years. Our Varsity Academic Team is in need of a coach for the coming school year. This position entails becoming trained (if not already) at the KAAC Conference in September, leading practices a few days per week, coordinating matches, and collaborating with coaches of our other academic teams. This is a stipend position.
Cafeteria Staff Member Needed: A position on the school cafeteria staff is currently available. The position consists of a five-day work week for a total of 15 hours. Please call our cafeteria manager Teresa Daugherty at (859) 261-0543 or email email@example.com to schedule an interview.
August Office Hours: The school office is currently open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. - 12 noon or by appointment.
First Day of School August 22: The first day of school will take place Tuesday, August 22. Dismissal will occur at 11 a.m. that day.
Immunization Forms: Please remember that updated immunization forms will need to be on file in the school office when your child begins the school year. This is particularly important for kindergarten and 6th grade parents to note.
School Mass Time Changed for 2017-18: We would like to inform you that our weekly school Mass will now occur at 9:20 a.m. each Friday. We feel this will further maximize our instructional time while also providing us our regular worship.
Oktoberfest: The 3rd Annual Saint Agnes Oktoberfest will be held October 6-8. Oktoberfest is one of our great parish events that has enabled our school tuition to increase only 0.5 percent over the past two years. Our school families who are parish members recently received their raffle tickets. Please try to sell those raffle tickets and return sales to the school or parish office. More information will be forthcoming on how to volunteer during Oktoberfest weekend. The schedule for the weekend’s activities can be found here. If you are interested in sponsoring Oktoberfest you may fill out and return this form.
Preschool Religion: My name is Stacey Moorhead and I am organizing the Preschool Religion Program at St. Agnes. This is my first year heading this program and I am excited to be involved in such a wonderful group. Our teachers are eager to get back to the work of sharing the Lord’s love and teachings with our small, but spirited faithful! If your child is ages 3-5 (and potty trained) and would like to be a part of this program please contact me via email, for an enrollment form. Please have your enrollment form turned into me by no later than September 8. The fee for the program is $40, if cost is an issue, please contact me and we can work something out.
We are always in need of helping hands for PSR. If you would like to offer some time to enrich the program, we would love to have you! All adult volunteers must be VIRTUS-compliant at all times when working with the children. We also welcome older students (Grades 6-12) to join us as aides. This is a wonderful experience for our young people and an excellent way to earn service hours. If you are interested please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or (859) 907-3667.
PTO Info: The first PTO meeting of the 2017-18 school year will take place September 14 at 7 p.m. in the school library. The PTO is currently searching for a vice president. If you are interested in this position please contact Stephanie Fieler at email@example.com.
Saint Agnes Golf Outing: The 2017 Saint Agnes Boosters Golf Outing is Saturday, August 19, at Devou Park with dinner at the new clubhouse. This is the largest fundraiser of the year for Saint Agnes Athletics. Your participation makes athletic programs and the values they instill possible at Saint Agnes. Please save the date and review the Golf Outing Flyer for details and the registration form to register. Hole sponsors are also needed. Click here to see the golf outing flyer, here for the registration form, and here for the hole sponsorship information.
Smiles & Miles 5K Run/Walk: Save the date! This year's Smiles & Miles 5K will take place Sunday, September 17, at 4 p.m. More details will follow in future school newsletters.
Solar Eclipse Safety: We received the following information regarding the solar eclipse that will take place on August 21 from our Diocesan insurance company. Parents, be sure to adhere to these precautions during the solar eclipse. Remember this is the day before our school year begins.
NDA Ball Kids Needed: Notre Dame Academy Soccer is looking for at least 6-8 "Ball Kids" per game to retrieve out-of-play balls at all NDA home soccer games. All volunteers will receive free admission to the game, a drink and a snack from the concession stand, and all time volunteered is counted toward Service Hours. Please email Kathy Boehmer (firstname.lastname@example.org) for information on games and times available.
