Mission Statement of Saint Agnes School
Saint Agnes School exists to provide excellence in Catholic education while inspiring and empowering our students to live the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. As compassionate and faithful Christians, we continue to pursue our spiritual journey, achieve our highest academic potential, and be stewards of the Catholic faith to others.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Tomorrow is the 8th grade class's last day of school at Saint Agnes. This is a terrific group of students who I know will represent Saint Agnes very well in the future. I am especially proud of them because they chose to provide an act of service in their very last days. Tomorrow is their final canned food collection day for the Parish Kitchen and Welcome House. They are carrying out our mission of "being stewards of the Catholic faith to others" in their final days at Saint Agnes. Please support them by bringing in any extra canned goods you have around your home. I look forward to celebrating with them at their Graduation Mass next Wednesday, May 29, and I invite all in our community to celebrate with us. This Friday is also the last day for our kindergarten students. We don't have to say good bye to them; only "have a great summer." We look forward to having their youthful exuberance around for eight more years.
This week, please pay special attention to results headed home. MAP testing scores are coming home with 8th grade students today and all other students later this week. Here is a "Parent's Guide to MAP Testing" for your reference. You may also learn more about MAP testing from NWEA's parent toolkit. Terrace Metrics survey reports will also be coming home for students in grades 6-8 this week. ~ Mr. Hoyt
Canned Food Drive Reminder: The 8th grade class is collecting canned food products through tomorrow, May 23. All food will be donated to the Parish Kitchen and the Welcome House. This is the last service project for the 8th grade class as students of Saint Agnes School.
Spirit Wear Day Tomorrow: Tomorrow is a Saint Agnes spirit wear day! Students may wear any Saint Agnes tops with their uniform or gym shorts.
SND Uganda Collection Thank You: At our school Mass this past Friday, we presented a check for $3,400 to the Sisters of Notre Dame for their Uganda Mission. They are very grateful for the partnership our community has with their missions. They asked that I share this thank you from them. As you can tell from the letter, we are making it possible for students to benefit from a SND education that may not otherwise be able to.
Last Day / Half-Day: This is a friendly reminder that we will dismiss at 11 a.m. on our last day of school, Thursday, May 30.
Student Medication in the Office: Please pick up any medicines/inhalers/epi-pens from the office between now and the end of the year. It is school policy that we will not send them home with students so a parent/adult must stop by to receive them. We will dispose of any medicines not picked up by June 3. Feel free to email Mindy Sucher at firstname.lastname@example.org if you need to make arrangements to pick up after that date.
Lost and Found: There are many items in the lost and found. If you are missing sweatshirts, other clothing, lunchboxes, etc., stop by the office between now and the end of the school year to take a look. Anything left at the end of the year will be donated.
POP Parties: While the year is winding down, there are still three upcoming parties for students and moms. Click here for details and to RSVP.
Oktoberfest: Oktoberfest planning is underway. We are looking for people to help out with silent auction, marketing, and ticket sales. The Oktoberfest dates for 2019 are September 27-29. We will have school on the Monday after Oktoberfest this year. If you are interested in helping, please email Jason Collins at email@example.com. Additional volunteers are especially needed with collecting items for the silent auction.
Move your feet to the SUMMER beat at Studio Dee: Studio Dee offers a variety of summer programs for ages 2 & up, including an eight-week dance/tumbling session where your child can explore different genres, including hip hop, tap, ballet, and more! They also offer summer dance camps from Princess Training Academy to American Girl Doll Camp to Fortnite Fun! Click Studio Dee for more info and for online registration. Feel free to contact Studio Dee if you have any questions at (859) 261-3337 or office@studiodeeNKY.com. We can't wait to dance the summer away with you!
Camp Carnegie All-Stars: The Camp Carnegie All-Stars are performing "We Are Monsters" June 1 and 2 at 2 p.m. After the June 1 performance, children and adults alike can enjoy post-show "monster" activities, like monster accessory making, face painting, decorating (and eating) monster treats, monster karaoke, a monster runway show, and a monster-themed obstacle course at The Carnegie.
