Mission Statement of Saint Agnes School
Saint Agnes School exists to provide excellence in Catholic education while inspiring and empowering our students to live the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. As compassionate and faithful Christians, we continue to pursue our spiritual journey, achieve our highest academic potential, and be stewards of the Catholic faith to others.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Next week is Catholic Schools Week! It seems like a great time to celebrate Catholics schools and especially Saint Agnes! We have many activities going on both during the school days and in the evening. Please note the schedule and activities in our announcement below. We will begin our week with a prayer service in the gym at 8 a.m. Monday morning. All are welcome but should enter through the main entrance. ~ Mr. Hoyt
Registration for 2019-20 School Year: Registration forms were sent home last week. Don't forget to send it back so that we can confirm your child's enrollment for next school year. The deadline for priority registration is this Friday, January 25. If you need another copy of the registration form, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Governor's Cup: Congratulations to our 7th/8th grade academic team who competed last Saturday in the District Governor's Cup Competition. The team placed second overall. These students and teams placed in individual events: Quick Recall Team (2nd place), Rachel Finke (Math, 2nd place), Ethan Lindbloom (Science, 2nd place), Alex Bloemer (Science - 4th place), Nick Prospero (Social Studies, 4th place; Language Arts, 4th place), Clara Heberling (Language Arts, 3rd place; Composition, 5th place), Ben Daniels (Arts & Humanities, 4th place), Aly Cain (2nd place, Composition), Caroline Kramer (3rd place, Composition), Great job!
Catholic Schools Week Schedule: We have a great week planned for Catholic Schools Week January 28 - February 1! Here is our schedule of activities for each day!
Monday: Celebrating our Community – Out-of-Uniform Mismatch Day for a $1 or more donation to benefit St. Vincent dePaul.
Tuesday: Celebrating our Students - Wear Spirit wear or Gym Uniform. We will go bowling at Superbowl. Be on the lookout for a permission slip.
Wednesday: Celebrating our Nation - Dress in red, white, and blue.
Thursday: Celebrate Vocations - Dress in uniform. Priests, deacons, and nuns are invited to speak in rooms and eat lunch with the students. We will play BINGO in the afternoon.
Friday: Celebrate Faculty, Staff, and Volunteers - Dress in any Catholic school shirt/sweatshirt with uniform pants, skirts, or jumpers. Teachers vs. 8th grade volleyball game. Early Dismissal at 11 a.m.
Watches with Multiple Features Not Permitted: We have noticed an increase in the amount of watches that do much more than just tell time. Please note that watches that have cameras, video cameras, internet access, etc., should not be worn to school. A good rule of thumb with watches is that if they do more than tell the time and date, unless for health reasons, they are not permitted to be worn at school.
Volunteers Needed: It’s Science Fair time again! Science fair will be held on the evening of Wednesday, January 30. We are in need of many volunteers and judges. Sign up here. Volunteer opportunities include judging, awards committee, set-up committee, takedown committee, hospitality committee, and tabulation. To see a list of volunteer options, click here. To be a judge, we only ask that you have either science or teaching experience. We are looking for doctors, nurses, engineers, landscape specialists, pharmacists, geologists, anything that has to do with science. Please contact Jorja Kremer at email@example.com with any questions or requests. Thank you! We could not do this without you.
Parent Volunteers for Bowling: We need parent volunteers on Tuesday, Jan. 29, during Catholic Schools week at Super Bowl in Erlanger. Let's reward our students with a fun day of bowling! http://signup.com/go/vJHUNbm
Volleyball Referee Needed: We are in need of a referee for the annual Faculty vs.8th grade volleyball game during Catholic Schools Week. It is scheduled for 9:30 on Friday, February 1. If you or someone you know is interested, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call the school. Thanks in advance for your help!
Marco's Pizza Night: Mark your calendar for next Tuesday, January 29. It is Marco's Pizza Night. Visit the location in Crescent Springs for some carry-out and be sure to tell them you are from Saint Agnes. Saint Agnes receives a percentage of the sales and the homeroom with the most sales will win a pizza party.
Product Survey: Please consider helping Saint Agnes PTO earn money for the school! The Product Survey Committee is in need of 100 volunteers between ages 18-65 to provide feedback on consumer products. The event will be held on Thursday, February 7, in Murphy Hall, under the church at Saint Agnes from 3-7 p.m. Please sign up for a 15-minute time slot here. This survey link can be shared with family, neighbors, and friends. All are welcome. Saint Agnes can earn a bonus if we have perfect attendance. If there are any questions please contact Amy Lantz at email@example.com or (513) 378-3602. Thank you, in advance, for participating in our fundraiser!
PoP Parties: Parties of Purpose raise money for the school's PTO. The hosts generously supply the party. The guests attend with an admission/donation and all the money raised goes to the school. Let us know if you would like to host a party this year to support the school. See below for the next party. It is a great way to support the school.
Braxton Brewery Open House: The next PoP Party will be held on Saturday, February 2, from 2-6 p.m. at Braxton Brewery in Covington. The open house includes bites, dessert and two tickets (per person) for a pint of Storm (which Saint Agnes will receive a $1 back per Storm pint sold between the hours.) Thank you to the ten host families for supporting this open house. Come down for an afternoon of community. Cost is $25 per couple or $15 per individual. Braxton Brewery welcomes children and dogs. Please RSVP here and send questions to Heather Randolph or Meg Koehl.
Big Blue Bash CASH Raffle: YOU could be the $5,000 Winner! The Big Blue Bash CASH! CASH! CASH! $5,000 Grand Prize Raffle starts this week! As always, all proceeds from this raffle go directly to the Saint Agnes School PTO. The PTO makes it possible to bring special educational and social enrichment to our students throughout the entire school year. Buy your tickets early. This year’s raffle features two early-bird drawings (Feb. 21 & Mar. 14) for $100 to the winner and $25 to the seller. There are prizes awarded for selling your tickets. The top seller (over 30 Raffle tickets) will receive a set of “Beats by Dre” Studio 3 wireless headphones. All the students in each school family who sell their ten tickets will be invited to a specially-catered lunch. The grand prize winner will be drawn at this year’s Big Blue Bash on Friday, April 5, at the Cincinnati Club. Thank you to Skyline Chili, Fort Wright, for sponsoring the printing of our raffle tickets this year.
Re-Gift to the Big Blue Bash: Did you receive a gift or gift card this holiday season that you know you’ll never use? Do you have an unopened bottle of liquor/wine/spirits leftover from a holiday party or maybe you received two of the same item? Consider re-gifting to the Big Blue Bash silent auction this year! Look for Big Blue Bash committee members in the car line at drop-off and pick-up on both Thursday, February 7 and Friday, February 8. Donuts and cookies will be provided! (Note this is a date change from last week's newsletter.) We appreciate any and all donations! Special arrangements can be made by contacting Lauren Stevens (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Bridget Weitzel (email@example.com).

The 6th grade league will be hosted by St. Joseph-Crescent Springs on Wednesday evenings and the 7/8th-grade league will be hosted by Saint Agnes and take place on Thursday evenings. More information is on the flyer. If you have questions please reach out to Stephanie Fieler at Stephaniefieler@gmail.com
Baseball/Softball Registration: There's nothing like the game of baseball. Even better, there's nothing like playing baseball for the Wildcats with your friends and classmates! Saint Agnes offers T-ball, machine pitch, and kid-pitch baseball, and softball for all ages from boys and girls entering kindergarten in 2019 to the 8th grade. Fees are held to a minimum ($35 - $90) and cover league fees, practice field maintenance, and uniforms. Our Pre-K - 1st-grade season usually lasts from around April 1 through June 15 while 2nd grade and up lasts from around March 15 through June 30.
Baseball Note: Parents of 4th grade boys interested in playing baseball, please be sure to register online, as well. The Boosters will determine whether there are enough players to field a team and/or assist in having the team join in playing with another school.
The softball season begins in March and plays until mid-July. Registration has gone online this year at http://tshq.bluesombrero.com/saintagnesboosters. If you have any questions before registering, please contact Paul Finke at (859) 814-4979 or email firstname.lastname@example.org (baseball) or Lori Delaney at (513) 227-4827 or email email@example.com (softball). Also, please consider purchasing Kid Glove tickets to a Reds game! Looking forward to an amazing season!
Spring Soccer Registration: Registration for spring soccer is now open. Registration ends at midnight, Feb, 3. Saint Agnes offers soccer for students ages 4-14. Our “recreational U8 – U14 program” plays in the Northern Kentucky Soccer League (NKSL) and has weekday practices at Saint Agnes and Saturday games at various locations in Kenton County.
