Accelerated Reader

FIND A BOOK!

The Accelerated Reader Program is being offered for all students in grades 1 – 8th here at St. Agnes School . The Accelerated Reader, or AR for short, is a computerized reading program that gives our children the ability to take well-constructed, comprehensive quizzes on a WIDE selection of books and receive immediate feedback on their work. This will help the teachers and the students to see how well a student is able to comprehend what they have read independently on their reading level.

Here is how it works:

1. Students select an Accelerated Reader Book. A list of AR titles can be found on www.arbookfind.com. There are MANY books, and we have access to ALL titles listed!

2. Students independently read the book.

3. Students take a quiz using the classroom or school library computers. Students will not have access to take the quizzes from home.

4. Students will earn a percentage of the assigned point value based on his/her score.

5. Students will be rewarded for participating in the Accelerated Reader Program in a few ways.

Class points will be recorded monthly outside of the library. Classes with the highest earned points in each grade level will be rewarded in a surprise fashion at the end of each quarter.

Individual points will be kept by your child’s homeroom teacher. Students reaching their quarterly goal, being designated by their teacher will also be rewarded.

Students will not be able to take the AR Quizzes at home, but you can search for books below.

If you have any questions about this program, please feel free to contact Mrs. Sparks, Mrs. Wainscott, Ms. Groh, or your child’s teacher.
