Welcome to 7th Grade Literature, Vocab and Grammar
Welcome to Junior High!!!
It’s going to be a GREAT YEAR!!!
I absolutely LOVE teaching English to teens (call me crazy!) and I’m so excited to jump right in!
My teaching philosophy is that students need to be engaged and interested to learn. They need to feel good about themselves in order to take risks and be successful. I encourage students to push themselves, be creative, and think critically. Yes, we will be “thinking outside of the box” and having great discussions, based on the Literature we cover in class.
So what should you expect from the 7th grade year?
Growth (not just the physical kind), changes, and increased independence.
What does that mean? Well, it means Junior High is a whole new ball game.
Our job is to get students ready for high school, and it’s a different approach than grade school.
Students are held more accountable for their actions and grades.
They are not treated like small children, which is good, but it also means they have to be more responsible for themselves. (Scary? No! GREAT! Increased independence is the goal!)
Don’t fret: we’re here to help with the transition.
What else is new in 7th grade? Our online grading system: Engrade.
All grades, in every subject area, are available online for students and parents to view. Students and parents will be given an account and password, and told how to access grades. It’s easy to access and teachers can also be easily emailed through Engrade. You’ll love it. There are no surprises and everyone knows exactly what the grades are at all times. Cool, huh?
