AGNES SCHOOL GUIDELINES FOR ROOM PARENTS
2007-2008
SCHOOL YEAR
Thanks for helping the St. Agnes school children
this school year. The PTO
Executive Council and Ms. Linda Groh have established guidelines to
ensure that this is a very positive experience for the students.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Room
Parent Contact Person. Determine
who will be Room Parent Contact person for each grade (versus each
classroom). This person
will be responsible for communicating plans and information for that
grade to the teachers, the Room Parent Chairperson, and other room
parents. This person
will also be the contact person for the phone tree for that grade.
- Treasurer.
The Room Parents for each grade level should select a
Treasurer. The Treasurer
will be responsible for managing funds for that grade level,
maintaining an expense report for the year, and returning any
remaining money with the completed expense report to the PTO
Treasurer at the end of the year.
The money that each grade level is designated is to be used
only for the parties.
- Room
Parties. Ms. Groh
has selected Halloween and Valentine’s Day as the holidays that
will be celebrated this year. Teachers
and Room Parents of Grades K-4 should agree what activities they
will have at each party. All
homerooms for a grade are to have the same activities, food, and
treats or party favors. Ms.
Groh has requested that the celebrations for Grades 5-8 consist of
refreshments only. These
activities are not to include activities or party favors.
The PTO provides all funding for the parties.
You will be budgeted $6 per child in grades K-4 and $5 per
child in grades 5-8 to cover all expenses for the year (the
difference being that the older kids do not have parties to spend
the money on).
- Phone
Tree. The phone tree
is used for snow and bus related delays.
Room Parents are to contact parents in your class to
volunteer for the telephone tree.
Refer to your list of helpers for possible volunteers.
The phone tree trial run will be in October.
- Product
Surveys. Room
Parents may be asked to solicit volunteers to attend the product
surveys this year. Our
goal is for you to enlist the help of your homeroom helpers from
your room first. Each
grade will be responsible for trying to find 10 volunteers.
The Fall product survey is on November 13th from
4pm-7pm. There is no
Spring product survey scheduled.
- Receptions
for School Functions. The
Social Committee has requested assistance from selected grade levels
to help with receptions for certain school functions.
The 3rd grade will help with 2nd grade
Reconciliation, 5th grade with DARE graduation, 6th
grade with 8th grade Confirmation, and 7th
grade with 8th grade Graduation.
The Social Committee will contact the Room Parents prior to
the event.
- Silent
Auction. NEW THIS
YEAR. Your gift idea is
basically done for you – all you have to do is collect items and
coordinate the completion of the class gift.
Sticking with the I spy theme, there will be separate I spy
tables for grades K-2 and 3-4, an I spy bench for grades 5-7, and an
I spy picture for 8th grade.
Room Parents are responsible for collecting one small item
per child (which will NOT be returned) that represents something
that child likes or is special to them.
These items will be gathered and will be displayed as
“shadow boxes” on the tables and appropriately on the bench.
Our goal is to get lots of help from Mrs. Freytag to complete
these class gifts! The
finished products are due back at school by Friday, January 18,
2008. Tickets will be
sold through KidMail the weeks of January 21st and 28th,
on select mornings those weeks, and also at the Silent Auction.
The winners will be drawn on Monday, February 4, 2008.
